About the Customer

India’s largest auto component manufacturer operating in the segments of cars, commercial vehicles, tractors, single piece wheels and construction & earth mover wheels. The company is highly dedicated towards quality and partnered with various global automotive OEMs.

Challenge

This automotive company specialized in tool design for forming/rolling steel faced issues in its spot welding machine during production which produces high level of noise. Thus, the company was looking for a solution that provides the acoustic signal data for analyzing the noise issues.

Solution

IU installed IDE on the customer’s spot welding machine to predict breakdown. IDE integrated with IDAP platform that provides data calculation of various factors such as noise and temperature. During the process, the following were noted:

  • IDE predicted the noise level change in spot welding machine from June 14 to June 30, in which the signal crosses the warning point several times.
  • After two days (on July 2), the noise level exceeds the danger limit. The machine operator observed the noise level change and took the necessary action.

Result

  • This indication displayed in IDAP platform prevents the spot welding machine from breakdown.
  • The IDAP platform provides analysis report covering all the information related to breakdown i.e. time, equipment, monitoring status, feature, and minimum-maximum limits.

Transformation

The preventive activity saved 24 hours breakdown that resulted into savings of USD 700 of spot welding machine
